How to Password-Protect a Proposal

Password protection adds a password to a specific proposal's tracking link. Before the proposal opens, the viewer must enter the password you set. Only people you share the password with can view the proposal — even if the link is forwarded.

Available on Pro plan and active trial users.

How to Enable It

1. Open a proposal's analytics page from your dashboard
2. Scroll to the Proposal options section
3. Under Password protection, enter a password and choose Set password

The change takes effect immediately for all future opens of that proposal's tracking link.

What the Viewer Sees

When a visitor opens a protected proposal link, they see a short "This proposal is protected" screen with a password field. Once they enter the correct password, the proposal opens and stays unlocked in that browser for a while, so they don't have to re-enter it if they come back the same day.

The protection is enforced on our servers — the PDF file itself is protected, not just hidden — so the gate can't be bypassed by guessing or sharing the underlying file link.

Sharing the Password

Share the password with your client separately from the link — over a call, a text message, or a different email. Keeping the password and the link in separate channels is what makes the protection meaningful.

Changing or Removing the Password

From the proposal's analytics page you can:

• Change the password at any time. Anyone who unlocked the proposal with the old password will be asked for the new one the next time they open it.
• Remove the password entirely. The proposal then opens normally, like any other tracking link.

For security, Nudji never displays your current password back to you (it's stored encrypted, not in plain text). To change it, you simply set a new one.

As the Owner

When you open your own proposal — from your dashboard or the Preview button — you're never asked for the password. The gate only applies to people viewing your shared link.

Plan Considerations

The password is enforced whenever it's set, regardless of your current plan:

• Downgrade from Pro: proposals you password-protected stay protected — a proposal you deliberately locked is never silently exposed. You can still remove the password at any time.
• Upgrade to Pro: you can set a password on any existing proposal immediately.
